-Gitanjali 35 by Rabindranath Tagore (1861-1941)
Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high;
Where knowledge is free;
Where the world has not been broken up into fragments by narrow domestic walls;
Where words come out from the depth of truth;
Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection;
Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way into the dreary desert sand of dead habit;
Where the mind is led forward by thee into ever-widening thought and action—
Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake.
Description
There are four identical panels, two above and two below. In each, two cats sit on a cushion. On the left, a large orange with darker orange stripes. On the right, a small grey with darker grey stripes. The orange is looking down at the grey with a smile in his eyes, as at an old and beloved friend. The grey is looking out into the world, as if wrestling with some intangible difficulty.
Panel 1
Big Cat: Are you excited for National Poetry Month, Little Cat?
Little Cat: You bet! I already submitted a poem to Human-Mom!
Panel 2
Big Cat: A poem? You mean… that hole you scratched in one of Human-Mom’s sofa-cushions?
Little Cat: Hah… yeah.
Panel 3
Big Cat: How was that even a poem?
Little Cat: It’s more of a performance piece. My life is my work of art.
Panel 4
Big Cat: Human-Mom was really upset. That was a dick move.
Little Cat: I believe the word you’re looking for is “misunderstood.”
