Welcome to the Sunday Summary for the week of 19 December 2021-25 December 2021. If you’ve missed something or want to revisit a favorite piece for the week, you’ll find it here.
Monday
“A woman with physical disabilities and mental illness has three reasons not to want to be seen as weak or incapable”
On Monday, Erika shared with us a story about choosing self-care. Mental health is health and it’s not always easy to put our own needs first, and we hope that sharing this story with you will help you remember that you’re not alone if you’re struggling and that it’s important to take time for self-care. You can read more from Erika about being a disabled person here.
Tuesday
“I used to write, but…”
“I want to write, but…”
“That’s ok. It’s hard getting started.”
Adam brought us advice about getting started on Tuesday. We all have experience with trying to start something new and having to overcome the obstacles and develop new habits, and Adam introduces some ideas that can help writers get started whether you’re a new writer or an experienced one trying to develop new habits. If you’re interested in more about the challenges of getting started, check out this piece.
Wednesday
“I don’t mean to scare you, but I think my bedroom is haunted – just the bedroom, where my working desk is.”
Wednesday we introduced you to Erik Piece who brought us a story about his haunted desk, and how it makes him sit and do work instead of sleep. Try a scary story about camping or this spooky story about ears if you enjoy spooky things.
Saturday
Big Cat and Little Cat bring you their weekly message.
Big Cat and Little Cat, along with Middle Cat are taking a break from the question but did want to thank everyone for their support as we’ve gotten started. They suggest that you support them by taking classes, sending us your work, following us on social media and chatting in the comments.
The humans are going to take it easy for the next week. We’ll be bringing you some favorite pieces from our past work with new commentary, and a little bit about New Year’s Resolutions. Are you making any? Do you love them or hate them? Are you like Erika, who feels more comfortable making those kinds of declarations in the fall, not in December? Leave your answer in the comments, or Tweet us or leave it on Facebook.
Make sure you‘re all caught up with your favorite 2 Rules writers and features by checking out all of our Sunday Summary posts.
